If you’re shopping for a premium pontoon boat, there’s a good chance two names have come up: Barletta and ROVE by Flamingo Marine. Both are serious boats built by serious people, and both have earned their place in the conversation. But they represent very different ideas about what a pontoon should be, and understanding that difference is what will help you make the right decision for your life on the water.
Barletta has built a strong reputation and has boats currently available. The Flamingo ROVE is new, takes a bolder swing, and is worth considering before you buy anything else. Here’s how they stack up.
Brand Background
Barletta launched in 2017 and built a real following fast. Comfort-forward layouts, solid construction, a dealer network that actually shows up, and in less than a decade, they’ve earned a legitimate place among the top names in the pontoon market.
Flamingo Marine is newer, and the background is worth knowing. Our founders, Eric and Brian Davis, are the same duo that built Seven Marine, a high-performance outboard company that Volvo later acquired. These are more than entrepreneurs who decided to buy a boat; they are engineers and designers who have already changed one corner of the marine industry. The ROVE is their first pontoon, and it’s built in Germantown, Wisconsin.
Innovation and Features
Barletta earns its praise here. Their 2026 updates include a redesigned helm with a 12-inch touchscreen, a new no-clip, no-pole playpen cover that’s genuinely easier to use, and updates to railing packages across the lineup. These are the kind of improvements that make a good boat better.
The ROVE approaches this differently. Flamingo didn’t set out to make a better version of the pontoons that already exist. We looked at what pontoon boats have never been able to do and built five patent-pending features around those gaps. All five come standard on every ROVE, included in the base price:

- GeminiTable: A modular dual table system built into the bow that folds completely away when you don’t need it. No clutter, no storage hunt, it’s just gone.
- ServingShields: Tempered glass windshields that fold down into serving counters while you’re underway.
- MegaLounge: The rear of the boat reconfigures between a full sunpad and a social seating setup. Same boat, different afternoon.
- Wings: The deck sides fold out, expanding usable space by 50% and holding up to 1,200 lbs per side. At a sandbar, this is a different category of boat.
- FlexStorage: Storage integrated into the MegaLounge, the ServingShields, and the center pontoon tube itself. Gear stays out of the walkway without you having to think about it.
Barletta builds a refined pontoon. We built a reconsidered one. If you’ve spent time on a lot of boats and never quite felt like they worked the way they should, the ROVE is a game-changer.
Layout and Space
Barletta gives you choices. Six series—Aria, Cabrio, Corsa, Lusso, Leggera, Reserve—each built around a different use case. Fishing boat, luxury entertainer, family cruiser: there’s likely a fixed layout designed for what you do.
We made a different bet. One adaptable layout instead of many fixed ones. The MegaLounge shifts for the moment, the Wings open up when you stop moving, the GeminiTable appears when you want it and disappears when you don’t. You don’t need to choose the right configuration before you buy; you can change it every time you go out.
Available Sizes and Capacity
Barletta’s lineup runs from 19 to 28 feet, with capacity and power varying by model and series. A dealer can help you find the right fit for your crew, waterway, and how you use the boat.
We’re launching the ROVE in three sizes:
- ROVE 22′: Up to 14 passengers, up to 250 HP (Mercury or Yamaha). Trailerable with a standard half-ton truck or SUV.
- ROVE 24′: Up to 16 passengers, up to 425 HP.
- ROVE 26′: Up to 18 passengers, up to 500 HP.
One note worth repeating: always confirm passenger and weight limits on the manufacturer’s capacity plate for the specific model you’re buying. That number is what matters legally and on the water.
Pontoon Availability and the Buying Experience
Barletta has a large, well-established dealer network. You can walk into a showroom today, sit in the seats, and leave with a boat. Their service infrastructure is proven, and the warranty process is well documented. If you need a boat on the water this season, Barletta can do that.
Our production begins in Q1 2026, with customer deliveries starting in Q2 2026. Pre-orders are open, and a Flamingo specialist will walk you through the build and configuration process.
Even though we are a new company, we’re not new to the industry. Our founders built Seven Marine and sold it to Volvo. Which One is Right for You?
Both are good boats built by people who care about building good boats. The question is what you’re actually looking for.
Choose Barletta if:
- You want something on the water this season
- You want an established dealer nearby for purchase, service, and support
- You want multiple layout options to find the one that fits your life
- You’d rather buy a proven product with a track record behind it
Choose ROVE if:
- You’ve spent time on pontoons and never felt like they quite got it right
- You want features that don’t exist anywhere else, not as upgrades, but standard
- You have flexibility on timing and can take delivery in Q2 2026
- You want to own the most interesting boat at every dock you visit
The pontoon market has been due for someone to try something a little more daring. Barletta is a great boat. The ROVE is a different kind of ambition entirely.
